Title sequence - Analysis - Fringe
the soundtrack on this title sequence is very effective, it helps portray the genre. the genre to this programme is sci-fi thriller and this soundtrack helps to give that feeling. the track seems to be building as the sequence goes on as if tension is building up until something significant happens. the track also has that eerie mystical or magical feel which is in line with the theme of science fiction.
the mise en scene is used very a deliberately to illustrate the sci-fi element to the programme as the very first frame we see is of four or five words on the screen, one of the biggest and most dominant being 'teleportation' catching the eye of the viewer and instantly allowing them to know this is a fictional series.
the animated titles are kept fluent and lively avoiding viewer fatigue, the style of the animations also allows for slight enigma as its not exactly clear what is going on in the sense of what the story line is or whats happening but at the same time it looks very interesting and makes the genre very clear. this will help capture there intended audience with the possibility of capturing the attention of viewers that wouldn't usually watch this genre but the sequence has made them curious to see what its about.
